CTG Brasil released 130,000 fishes of the species piapara, pacu, and curimbatá into the reservoir of the Salto Grande Hydropower Plant on the Paranapanema River at the end of January this year.
The release took place at the municipal ramp in Salto Grande (SP) and is part of the Fish Management and Conservation Program, promoted by CTG Brasil with authorization from the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama), with the objective of repopulating and guaranteeing the diversity of fishes through the production and release of native species.?
The fishes used in the restocking program are produced at the CTG Brasil Fish Farm in Salto Grande (SP). In addition to fish production, research is conducted in the laboratory in partnership with universities.?
“Replenishing native species in rivers is an essential measure to preserve the balance of aquatic ecosystems. This practice expands biological diversity and contributes to the sustainable maintenance of fishing activity,” reinforces Norberto Castro Vianna, environmental specialist at CTG Brasil.?
